Need some internet help, tired of getting dropped out of matches
My connection used to be 100% fine, I could join anyone without lagging out or them lagging out. When in-game all shots were fine and any game was perfect online.
Then last Friday (June 26th) I started to get laggy in games where what I was seeing was not actually what was happening in the game. Shots stopped registering etc.. Now when I play GB matches, every other round I lag out of the game. I usually play fine then I get dropped from the match but not disconnected from Xbox live or anything and I can still talk etc My computer is right next to my xbox so I always check my internet connection when I get dropped and I can load any website fine. I opened my NAT and put in all the xbox live ports etc but I still continue to get dropped from matches. Does anyone know what the problem could be? Is it just because my neighbors are on the internet more because it's summer? I use comcast, should I change my ISP? I don't use wireless either (again it just started happening the last few days, it used to be perfect before then) thanks for any help or info, tired of getting threats of being dropped from my GB teams because I keep lagging out |

Restart your modem and router, do your neighbors feed off your internet? if so you need to put a password on your router/modem so they cannot access it and tie up your bandwidth. you can also try clearing the cache on your xbox to do that Go to My Xbox then System settings then click memory, Press Y on the Hard drive symbol and then press X,X,Left Bumper, Right Bumper, X,X. Once you do this a message will appear saying: Do you want to perform maintenance on your Xbox 360 storage devices? click yes

Make your wireless private so your neighbors can't connect to it. Also make sure you have any torrent disconnected or anything that could be downloading/uploading something.

I'll try that cheatcode-like thing you said, dunno what it does but I'll go for it edit: did the cheatcode thing and clicked yes, it took less than 2 seconds for it to be done, so I'm not sure what that means my teammates are afraid to play with me and won't until I tell them I 100% won't drop Quote:
if tons of neighbors are on their own internet at the same time, will that slow down my internet? or does that have nothing to do with it? thanks for the replies, it looks like Comcast is a popular ISP in my area, would that be a bad thing? maybe I should switch to a less used ISP or something Last edited by VERMM; 30 Jun 2009 at 5:28 AM EDT.. |

No your neighbors being on there internet wouldn't matter at all did you recently have a storm and your power went out? Your router could of got hit by lightning and that sometimes messes **** up.

do you think I should change my ISP since a lot of people use Comcast around my area? (I currently use comcast)

No, Comcast has one of the fastest upload speeds out there. I would just call Comcast and have them come out and look at it.

With comcast its in a local area so basically everyone who lives in your neighborhood has their own connection but feeds off a idk the word but lets say internet box. I use verizon and it is so much faster then comcast when I had it. Not only do you have your own internet box it never goes down like comcast sometimes does. So basically verizon you have your own box and with comcast its like a community box. So if you have a high populated neighborhood with lots of kids who use the internet it may not run at it's full potential. Then again about your power going out was it a storm? or just random. If it was a storm lightning could have effected something

![]() This is at 2:45 AM I'll test it again when people in my area should be awake, maybe in the evening The highest I see for verizon is Download: 7 mb/s and Upload is not even 1 mb/s From what I know my current speed is good, and I just played a few games and the connection was good so I'm pretty sure my problem has to do with other people being on their internet, at peak hours of internet use I get dropped out of matches more often |

I tested it again at 7:24 AM;
![]() (3/5 were around 6 mb/s, 1 was at 10 mb/s and 1 was at 20 mb/s) The stats seem very dynamic as people start waking up Maybe it's just a coincidence but I do think my problems have to do with my neighbors, even though they aren't using my connection |
