yeah i guess the only thing you can do is find some contact info or try to sync it to itunes and see if it brings up some information ... other than that .. system restore and enjoy

Run a reverse lookup if you have his first/last name. I'm sure a few people will come up attempt to use where the flight had been/was going and contact each person.

if you know he is on the west coast because of the time, you could try narrowing that down on facebook, also check the weather app, i know lots of people put the city where they live on the weather app so they can see the forecast for the day
