GameBattles New Reputation System
For the past several weeks, the development team has been hard at work creating an exciting new user reputation system – one that will incorporate all facets of your activity on GameBattles to define your virtual identity. Your reputation will be displayed as a percentage in prominent areas around the site, including your profile, team rosters, and a brand new “Reputation Leaderboard” that will highlight our most respected players. In short, this new system will reward you for having a good reputation, or restrict you for being a troublemaker. The new system will go live this Monday, December 5th, but you can find all the details below now!
Here’s how it works:
To start, all users’ former “match-feedback” reputations will be reset, and everyone given a clean slate. However, this user-to-user feedback will no longer serve as the principle component of your reputation. Instead, your User Dispute Percentage will make up the majority of your new “core” reputation; so the less disputes you’re involved in, the better. (Remember, if your team is awarded the win in a disputed match, the dispute will not count against your User Dispute Percentage!) User-to-user/team-to-team match-feedback will be secondary, but will still play a significant role in defining your core reputation.
However, it doesn’t stop there. Your new user reputation will be affected by almost anything you do on the website. Things such as your Community Match Resolution System (CMRS) activity, forum reputation, and tournament participation can all give you some bonus reputation points. League subscription members will also be given a boost. The more you participate in these kinds of “extra-curricular activities,” the more you will be rewarded with a better reputation.
Confused yet? Let’s look at it in simpler terms. Your “Core Reputation” is made up of your User Dispute Percentage and Match Feedback, with your user dispute percentage weighing more heavily than match feedback. However, the previously mentioned “bonuses” will factor in on top of your Core Reputation, and can ultimately increase your reputation.
So, how will the new user reputation system affect your GameBattles experience? Here are a few major ways in which your reputation can help or hurt you:
As you can see, your user reputation will follow you everywhere and can have a significant impact on your GameBattles identity. For this reason, we’d like to encourage all of our users to leave feedback after each match they participate in to help paint a picture of their opponent. If you had no problems and would gladly play the team again some time, give them positive feedback. If they talked trash, abused exploits, or downright ruined your experience, leave them negative feedback. Either way you are helping the rest of the community.
We hope you embrace these changes to the user reputation system, as the re-vamped system will provide a number of benefits to both other users and our staff members. Happy gaming!
Note: All percentages are subject to change.
