We have rolled out a few new changes to the match scheduling system! There are three major upgrades you will notice, each of which helps to improve GameBattles’ ease of use and make the whole match finding process faster and more efficient. Keep reading for all the details!

The first big change concerns the Match Finder itself. For quite some time now, one of the major complaints from our userbase has been the messy, unorganized nature of the Match Finder. We have made several cosmetic changes to the Match Finder, as well as added a new filter to show what size match you are looking for. No more sorting through 4v4s, 5v5s, etc. – you can now easily view the match size you’re looking for. This makes utilizing the Match Finder tool a whole lot easier, and should make finding a match faster.

The next upgrade we’d like to point out deals with the Meebo Chat. Meebo Chat was implemented on GameBattles quite some time ago, but has never really served a purpose outside of chatting with your friends. However, with the older forms of instant messaging communication (AIM, MSN, etc) going obsolete, teams and players have sometimes had trouble contacting each other after a match is scheduled. That, of course, causes delays in getting the match started on time. With this new upgrade, when a team accepts a match, it will show all of the players in the match and place a chat icon next to each user’s name. Clicking the icon will immediately launch a live chat conversation with that player via Meebo. Hopefully this tool can help teams stay in communication while setting up a game, as well as throughout the game should any game glitches or errors occur.

Last, but not least, we’ve added the Match Notification system. Whenever a match is accepted, it will alert that team’s members in the match with a notification via the Meebo bar. This is an instant notification and does not require users to refresh the page in order to see the notification. Users have requested this feature for years so they are not forced to check every several minutes to see if their challenge was accepted --- they will now be alerted immediately. Make sure you are logged into the Meebo bar to get the notification!
