GameBattles is excited to introduce a brand new form of online competition to our users: Leagues! The idea of implementing leagues has been tossed around for some time now, and many users have been waiting for this feature for a long time. Leagues will offer a more unique and in many ways, more competitive experience for those involved. Additionally, GameBattles’ first league, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 4v4 Search and Destroy BETA League, is already accepting registrations!

Leagues will differ from our standard Ladders in a number of ways. Rather than having an unlimited number of teams in one giant list of rankings, leagues will instead accept a limited, set number of teams and sort them into divisions. A schedule will then be generated, and teams will play other teams from their own division at a pre-scheduled day and time each week for a set period of time. At the end of league play, the top team or teams (depending on the size of the league) will be sorted into a single-elimination tournament to determine a champion. Prizes will also be available for many of the leagues in the future.

Let’s look at the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 4v4 Search and Destroy BETA League for an example of how it works. According to the “Information” tab, matches in this league will be scheduled against divisional opponents for Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7PM each week, and two matches will be played each day – that’s four matches a week. Once a team has played every other team in their division, the playoff bracket will be scheduled.

However, the Leagues are still in a BETA phase and may not be 100% complete. For this reason, only Premium Teams will currently be able to register for the MW3 4v4 Search and Destroy League. There will be some prizes, but mainly we are hoping Premium Members can help us thoroughly test the code inside and out to make sure it’s all working properly before opening it to the public.
