Posted by subtheorist, on Nov 26 2007 5:00 PM

The GB Wire is your one-stop shop for all the news and events buzzing in the GameBattles community. Tune in each week as we touch base with the latest happenings from around the site on an in-depth level. For our American audience, we hope you had a memorable Thanksgiving weekend and hope the trend continues throughout the holiday season.

As you have probably noticed, the Summer Season Playoffs have concluded throughout the majority of the site. These playoffs served as GameBattles’ first tournament since the redesign of the site. Although the rules and format were the same, the playoffs were every team’s first glimpse into how all future playoffs will be conducted. From everyone here at GameBattles: congratulations to all of our newly crowned champs and good luck in the Fall Season!

Call of Duty 4’s arrival on GameBattles has been met with rave reviews. Now in its third week of competition on the Xbox 360, COD4 has quickly become the fourth most popular arena on the site. With thousands of matches played, and thousands more on the horizon, Call of Duty 4 has quickly cemented itself amongst GB’s top arenas.

Two new Gears of War and Rainbow Six Vegas MLG Online Tournaments have launched on Registration for both tournaments will be live until December 8th. Entrance into the competition requires 20 MLG Credits, as well as a minimum of four players per team. With over $2,000 in prizes up for grabs, now is the time to secure your spot in MLG’s latest batch of Online Tournaments.

As mentioned in last week’s GB Wire, applications for GameBattles Staff have made their way back. If you’ve already applied, please be patient as we carefully sort through the influx of applications. Those of you interested in applying are still encouraged to submit your information via the GB Staff application. If selected, you will be contacted by a member of GameBattles Staff for further review.

That concludes this week’s GB Wire. Stop by next week as we study the effects of the Fall Season moving into its third and final month of competition.
