Ladies and gentlemen, GameBattles and BIC are proud to announce that a winner has finally been crowned in the Super Smash Bros. Brawl Summer 2009 Season! Throughout the Summer Season, over 1,300 teams competed on the Singles Ladder for the right to participate in the post-season Playoff Tournament. The season closed on September 30th and a six week long battle began among the 64 teams that qualified. We are proud to announce the sole survivor,
Sally!
Sally finished the regular season with a record of 27-4, winning 14 straight matches during one stretch. Though his record was impressive, he qualified as just the #49 seed. Critics wondered if Sally was a big-game player -- after all, he only played 31 games all season, who could consider him a legitimate threat? Essentially, he was overlooked heading into the tournament. However, he quickly turned heads by defeating #16
Legit and #48 ranked
That Aint Toon in the first two rounds. Sally then defeated #33
WMS, who had upset the #1 overall seed
Triple R the round prior. The #8 seeded
Greed hoped to make quick work of a #49 seed, but was instead shut out 2-0 by Sally. #12
ImSoSlick and #23
Kira also failed to stop him.
In a much more exciting Loser's Bracket, former SSBB champion
dabuz (#30) was able to fend off the likes of
Jumpman,
JudgeMeow, and Kira to advance to the championship round. However, a Championship Series that would have required Dabuz to win two consecutive matches against Sally to claim gold ended after just one match. Sally defeated dabuz by score of 2-0 to claim the Summer 2009 Championship!
It was another great season on the Super Smash Bros. Brawl Arena, and another name has been added to the record books. Congratulations to Sally on his first season championship! Also, thanks to our readers who followed along throughout the season, and a big thanks to BIC Comfort 3 Advance Shavers who made this all possible! See you next season!
