POLICIES:

  1. The Sponsor, MLG, Activision Blizzard will not tolerate Contestants that cause problems or attempt toundermine the positive atmosphere on GameBattles. This includes Contestants that cheat, dispute onpurpose, or repeatedly abuse Contestants. Violators will be dealt with accordingly including possibleremoval from the Tournament and/or GameBattles. As with all accusations, valid proof must be provided.Please refer to the “Proof” section below.

  2. Abuse of our volunteer Staff will not be tolerated in any form. This includes written messages or verbalcomments. Violators will be removed from GameBattles.

  3. Usernames, blast messages, logos, avatars, and website links are subject to the Forum Rules.

  4. All MLG/GameBattles accounts are property of Major League Gaming Inc. Any advertising of, or attemptsto buy, sell, trade, or exchange an account by any means is strictly prohibited. Violators will be bannedfrom all MLG/GameBattles websites and all related accounts terminated.

  5. ** Contestants must utilize their own unique username for competing on GameBattles and in thisTournament. Each Contestant will need to personally register his/her unique username on GameBattlesprior to the start of the Tournament. The registered username must contain the correct and completeName, Address, and Email of the Contestant. If a false Name, Address, or Email was entered, theContestant voids the privilege to participate in the Tournament.

  6. ** As a Contestant, you are personally responsible for accepting an invitation to compete in theTournament. Someone else cannot accept an invitation for you. If you do not personally accept aninvitation, you may be disqualified. You also forfeit the chance to win prize(s).

  7. ** Contestants are prohibited from sharing account/Tournament information stored on GameBattles withanother person for any reason. This includes, but is not limited to, the following: usernames, passwords,gamertags, email accounts, etc. If another person accesses your account, you may be disqualified fromthe Tournament and removed from GameBattles.

In addition: All roster spots must be comprised of only one valid gamertag. Spelling and spaces must be exact,but does not need to be case sensitive.Gamertags may not contain foul language, disparaging remarks, hateful or racist names.Contestants must have a green eligibility icon next to their name to participate in matches. A Contestant has 15 minutes to show-up and be ready to start the match. Failure to do so will result ina forfeit. Contestants are responsible for all scheduled matches.To receive a no-show win, you must submit a ticket within 30 minutes of the scheduled match,including Contestant’s proof in the ticket.

Game Play:

Matches

  1. Contestants may not delay a match for more than 5 minutes while in game.

  2. Starting a Game with the wrong Game Settings may result in a forfeit of the game.

  3. Teams must have at least 3 members present in order to start a Round/Game.

  4. If a player does not show after 15 minutes of the scheduled match time, that player forfeits the match. To gethelp with a No Show issue, you MUST contact staff via Live Support. We must verify the no show. Please seeabove under Online Tournament Support Staff.

  5. If the Party Leader/Host wrongly ends a game, the player will forfeit the match.

  6. A "Lag Test" must be completed prior to starting the match. This is a test round that doesn't count and usesthe standard game settings that will be used during the match. The team setting up a lag test should use a mapthat is NOT in the challenge template. If the game lags during this test, the other player with the best hostshould host the match.

  7. If the infinite Ammo glitch is found in your match, the hosting team will forfeit that map.
    • A lag test must be performed prior to starting the match on a map not scheduled for play in the match. If the infinite ammo glitch is a problem, the host of the map needs to turn off his/her xbox and setup the lobby again. This will fix the problem

  8. If a player/host disconnects during the initial launch of a map, the map will be restarted. The initial launch is defined as within the first 30 seconds or before the first kill. If both teams disagree over when the disconnection took place, video proof must be provided. First, the match must be completed and the scores must be reported correctly. The URL link of the proof must be submitted in a ticket once the match is completed.

  9. If the host disconnects after the map has started, the host's team forfeits that map. After the map has started is after 30 seconds or after the first kill.   10. If a player disconnects after the game has started, the game will continue and the player may be re-invited.

  11. We highly recommend that all players appear offline at all times during their match. Users are not to dispute a match on purpose if the other team did not appear offline. If random players enter the room, ask them to leave. If they leave immediately without disrupting the match, the match can continue. If the player disrupts the match, the match is to resume from the score at which the player(s) entered.

  12. Staff members that enter a match have the discretion to make necessary calls to ensure the match is completed successfully. When in a match, the Staff member's call is final and must be followed. Failure to do so will result in penalties for your team. After the match, if you disagree with a call made, first you must accurately report the match and then you can submit a ticket for review by an Admin. Do not dispute the match on purpose.

Ladder Play

  1. All matches must be played in their entirety unless both teams agree to postpone the match or remove thechallenge. If agreed, both teams must submit a ticket requesting the postponement or challenge removal. Areferee can be contacted to witness the agreement details.

  2. The lower ranked team at match time must choose 1 game to host.  If there is a tie in rank (i.e. both are unranked), the Team ID closest to 0 will be the higher ranked team.  The higher ranked team must host the games that were not chosen.  The games must be played in order.

  3. Leaving a Demolition match after the second round will result in a forfeit of the map.

Bracket Play

  1. The bracket will be single elimination.

  2. The bracket default time is listed on the Info Tab for the tournament. Matches must be played and completedwithin 24 hours of the default time. Both teams must agree to postpone the match. If both teams do not agree topostpone, then the default date and time must be played. Extensions will not be made after the 24 hours.

  3. If a match is not played, and neither team submits a ticket requesting the forfeit win, the match win will bedecided by staff.

  4. The higher ranked team must choose 1 game to host.  If there is a tie in rank (i.e. both are unranked), the Team ID closest to 0 will be the higher ranked team.  Then, the lower ranked team must choose 2 games to host.  The higher seeded team must host the games that were not chosen.  The games must be played in order.

  5. Leaving a Demolition match after the second round will result in a forfeit of the map.

Reporting


  1. Contestants are responsible for reporting the match within 30 minutes of its completion. If a Contestantdoes not report matching results, the match will result in a ‘dispute’. Both Contestants are then requiredto submit a ticket regarding the dispute and include any valid proof they have.

  2. Any Contestant who reports the result of match before the match is played or completed will bedisqualified.

  3. All matches need to be reported correctly by both Contestants. If there is an issue with a match, thematch must first be reported accurately and then a ticket containing your valid proof can be submittedafterwards. Do not dispute the match on purpose. Please see the proof section below for moreinformation. If your claims are found to be valid with proof, a GameBattles Administrator has the abilityto revert the match.

  4. Disputing a match on purpose will result in disqualification form the Tournament.

Tickets


  1. Do not contact staff inquiring about the status of a ticket or Contestant is subject to penalties. Wereceive many tickets from Contestants, and they are handled in the order they are received, we processeach ticket before the next round when in bracket play.

  2. When submitting a ticket, fill out all applicable fields. Submitting an incomplete or incorrect ticket will beclosed without being processed. You are required to select your Contestant’s name from the drop-down.If you are submitting a ticket about a match, you must also fill out the match ID or your ticket will not beprocessed.

  3. Administrator decisions are final. If you would like your case to be reviewed again due to new evidence,feel free to submit a new ticket. Submitting a ticket without additional evidence is argumentative and yourisk being locked. Do not post in the forums regarding a ticket issue.

Cheating

  1. The use of any communications other than what is provided within the game is prohibited. For example,the use of Skype or private chatting during a match is not allowed.

  2. We have a zero tolerance policy for cheating. Contestants caught cheating, “glitching”, or abusing ingamemechanics in any way will be removed from the Tournament and GameBattles.

Referees

  1. If a Contestant has any problems during a match, s/he may contact a Staff member over Live Support toanswer any questions or receive assistance. Please contact the Referees first as this is their job. To findthe list of Staff members, click on the “Support” tab located within each ladder.

  2. If a Staff member is called into a match for any reason, all Contestants must comply with the Staffmember’s instructions. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from the Tournament.

  3. Verbally abusing Staff members called during a match will not be tolerated. The Contestant violating thisrule will be disqualified.

  4. Staff members that enter a match have the discretion to make necessary calls to ensure the match is completed successfully. When in a match, the Staff member's call is final and must be followed. Failure to do so will result in penalties for your team. After the match, if you disagree with a call made, first you must accurately report the match and then you can submit a ticket for review by an Admin. Do not dispute the match on purpose.

Proof

  1. Contestants need to show proof of winning each game in a match to be given the win for the game. Allproof must be clearly visible and show the in-game full scoreboard during the completion of that game.The proof must all clearly show both Contestants to be considered valid.

  2. We recommend all video proof should be uploaded to the GB Game Room. Picture proof can beuploaded to your GB profile. The URL link to the individual pictures/proof must be placed in a ticket.

  3. For all glitching and cheating claims, the burden of proof is on the accuser. To submit a glitching orcheating claim, Contestant must submit a ticket and include the URL link containing valid proof.

  4. All conversations between Contestants are not considered proof. This includes AIMs, emails, PMs, etc.


Settings:


  1. The tournament will be played on Call of Duty:MW2 for the Xbox 360. The settings for the ladder andbracket will be available to all registered players/teams.

  2. The default settings specified in these policies can be changed, but only if an option is available. Thestaff will support no other agreements, (i.e. verbal, AIM, email). So unless specified otherwise in thematch details, these default regulations will be followed.

Participation in this Tournament constitutes contestant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules.

ELIGIBILITY:

Employees of: GameStop, Inc. (hereinafter, “Sponsor”), Major League Gaming Inc.(“MLG”), Activision Blizzard and their respective affiliates, subsidiaries, parent companies, representatives, promotional partner(s), advertising, promotion and publicity agencies ("Sponsor and its agents") and the immediate family members and persons living in the same household of each are not eligible to play or win. All federal, provincial, state, and local laws and regulations apply.

This Tournament consists of three (3) rounds in which teams (“Team”) of four will compete. Rounds 1 and 2 will be played on Xbox Live and Round 3 will be held during a live finals event. Tournament will be played on COD:MW2. Both Rounds will be conducted according to the Games rules found at gamestop.com/modernwarfare2.

In order to compete in this Tournament, Teams must sign-up at gamestop.com/modernwarfare2 (“website”) by 9:00:00 PM U.S. EST on December 11, 2009. To sign up, follow all instructions provided on the website. During Rounds 1 and 2, teams may only compete within their region (i.e. Teams from North America can only play teams from North America and European teams can only play other European teams ).

ROUND 1 – Ladder Play:

Teams that register can play as often as they wish between November 20, 2009 (5:00:00 PM U.S. EST) and December 11, 2009 (9:00:00 PM U.S. EST) according to the Game rules defining Ladder Play. Teams should strive to move up the ladder by successfully playing against Teams with a higher ladder standing. Teams may find matches through the Blind Match Finder or by setting up matches with other Teams that have indicated their desire for a match. Teams move up and down the Ladder according to the win/lose record and the caliber of the Teams they engage. At the conclusion of Round One, the top 512 Teams on the North American Ladder and the top 512 Teams on the European Ladder will advance to Round 2.

ROUND 2: - Bracket Competition
Round Two will commence on December 14, 2009 and end on December 30, 2009. Round Two will be conducted in a single elimination bracket format. The Team seeded first will play the Team seeded 512. Team seeded 2 will play the Team seeded 511 and so on up and down the ladder. At the conclusion of Round Two, the top two Teams on the North American Ladder and the top two teams on the European Ladder will advance to Round 3 as Finalists.

ROUND 3: Finals:
On or before February 28, 2010, four Finalist Teams will compete against each other in a single elimination match until one Team remains and is declared the Grand Prize winner. In Round 3 of the Tournament, all four Finalist Teams will be given the opportunity to compete against other Finalist Team, as determined by the Sponsor, until one (1) Finalist Team (subject to verification) remains and declared the Grand Prize Winner of the Tournament. If a Finalist Team withdraws or fails to attend the Finals for any reason whatsoever, at the Sponsor’s sole discretion, an alternate Finalist Team may be determined.

TIES:
For any Round, if the game is tied after the time limit for a given match, the game will go into a one (1) minute overtime tie-breaker where the player with the most points will win. In the event of a further tie, the game will be extended for additional one (1) minute overtime tie-breaker until a winner is determined.

SCORING/TRACKING:

All scores in Rounds 1 and 2 will be tracked by Xbox Live and/or MLG. All scores for Round 3 will be tracked by the Game; which will be deemed the official scorer for all purposes.

PRIZES & APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUES (“ARV”):
One Grand Prize: $2,500 Cash per team player (total value: $10,000.00 USD/€6,650 EUR based on an exchange rate of $1 USD = €0.665 EUR or 1 EUR = $1.5038 USD). Grand prize awarded in form of a check or wire transfer to winner outside the U.S. (at Sponsor’s sole discretion). 16 Finalist Prizes: A trip for each Finalist to attend the Tournament Finals in a city (“Tournament City”) determined solely by Sponsor (“Event”) plus $200.00 USD. Each Finalist must travel on dates specified by Sponsor or forfeit all rights to the trip Prize. Each member must travel on dates specified by Sponsor or forfeit all rights to the trip Prize. If a member of a Finalist team is a minor, his/her parent or legal guardian will need to travel as his/her guest. A team will not be able to participate if one or more of its member cannot travel for any reason whatsoever and the Sponsor shall have no further obligations to team. Trip includes: round-trip coach airfare to/from each Finalist’s primary residence (or ground transportation if a Finalist resides in or within 150 miles radius of Tournament City); two (2) nights double occupancy hotel accommodation; plus $200 USD spending money awarded as a check or wire transfer (as determined by Sponsor) (ARV of each trip: $1,600 USD/€1,063 EUR based on an exchange rate mentioned above). All meals, ground transportation, gratuities and all other expenses and incidentals not mentioned herein are the sole responsibility of each Finalist. Actual value of trip depends on point of departure and fares at time of booking. If actual value of the trip is lower than the stated ARV, the difference will not be awarded. If a trip prize is forfeited by a team member for any reason whatsoever, and there is sufficient time to determine an alternate team the next highest scoring Round 1 team will be notified and will be required to meet all requirements per these Official Rules. If there is not sufficient time to fly an alternate team to the Event, or if the Event are canceled, postponed or rescheduled for any reason whatsoever, the Sponsor shall have no further obligation to team other than to supply remaining portion of the trip Prize minus the Event and such trip must be taken within twelve (12) months from the date of prize notification. Travel arrangements must be made through Sponsor’s agent. If, for any reason whatsoever, a team (or a parent or legal guardian, if applicable) cannot travel after all travel arrangements are made and paid, then the Sponsor shall have no further obligation to the affected team and/or parent(s) or legal guardian(s). Each team member is solely responsible for obtaining the proper travel documentation (e.g., passports, visa and/or valid photo ID) prior to travel. If a team member is a minor, his or her parent or legal guardian must accompany him/her on trip and must execute any required travel documents on behalf of any traveling minor. Blackout dates and restrictions may apply. Prizes are not redeemable for cash (unless as noted herein). Prizes are non-assignable or transferable. No substitution by any winner is permitted. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute any prize (or portion thereof) with a prize (or portion thereof) of equal or greater value in the event offered prize is unavailable. Each team member who qualified for the Finals and the Grand Prize Winner will be responsible for payment and reporting of all federal, state, local and income taxes associated with the awarding of their respective prizes in the applicable country where such reporting/payment is required. If a Finalist is U.S. resident, he/she will be required to complete and submit an IRS 1099 Form for any prize valued at $600 USD or more. Any other incidental expenses on prize not specified herein are the sole responsibility of each winner.

WINNER NOTIFICATION:
Each Team member may, at Sponsor’s option, be required to sign and return a declaration of eligibility, releaseof liability, and, where lawful a publicity consent agreement, all within 5 days of acknowledged notification. Thecontact information (i.e., Contestant’s name, address, telephone number(s), email address) provided by eachContestant during the entry process shall serve as the contact information of record in respect of allcommunications with each Contestant. .If any Finalist team member is less than the age of majority in his or herstate of residence, all required documents must be signed by his/her parent/legal guardian and will be required toaccompany team member on the trip as his/her guest. If a team member cannot be contacted, or is contacted anddoes not respond as directed within five (5) days of attempted contact, or fails to timely return the completedand executed declaration and releases as required or refuses the prize within five (5) days of notification or isineligible to accept the prize, or does not complied with these Official Rules, or has made false statements or ifprize notification is returned as undeliverable, his or her Finalist team may be disqualified and the Finalist teamwith the next highest Round 1 score team may be determined the alternate team. Winning constitutespermission (except where prohibited by law) to use each Finalist team member’s name, hometown/country,likeness, prize won, statements and photograph (all at Sponsors’ discretion) for future advertising, publicity inany and all media (including online posting) now or hereafter devised throughout the world in perpetuity, withoutadditional compensation, notification or permission.Residents of the UK: Nothing in these Official Rules shall limit in any way any party’s liability under U.K. law fordeath or personal injury caused by its negligence.

GENERAL:
The Sponsor, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any Contestant who violates these OfficialRules. By entering, all Contestants accept and agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules, the decisionsof the Sponsor, GTD and/or MLG and to be contacted by Sponsor or its agents by email, mail and/or telephoneregarding this Tournament.Contestants must comply with any security procedures, measures and instructions imposed by the Sponsor,GTD and/or MLG that reserve the right in their sole discretion to suspend or cancel my participation due to anynon-compliance with any instruction, security procedure or inappropriate behavior or misconduct.Contestants, (or if a Contestant is a minor, his/her parent or legal guardian), further understand that neither theSponsor, MLG, Activision Blizzard nor their agents will be responsible for any lateness and/or “no shows” andno further opportunity will be permitted. Contestants (and/or their parents or legal guardians) understand thatneither the Sponsor, MLG, Activision Blizzard nor their agents has arranged for or carry any insurance of anykind for Contestants’ benefit (or that of their heirs, executors and administrators) in connection with thisTournament, including, without limitation, insurance relating to their traveling to and participating in any relatedactivity, and that Contestants (or their parents or legal guardians) are solely responsible for obtaining and payingfor any life, travel, accident, property or other insurance.The Sponsor, MLG, Activision Blizzard and their agents and promotional partner(s) (collectively referred to as“Released Parties”) are not in any way responsible or liable for damages, losses or injury resulting fromparticipation in or travel to or from this Tournament by any Contestant or from the acceptance, possession,shipping and handling, loss, use or misuse of any prize awarded in this Tournament. By entering, Contestantassumes sole liability for injuries, including, without limitation, personal injuries and/or damage to property,caused or claimed to be caused by, related to, or arising out of participating in or traveling to or from thisTournament. The Sponsor and/or MLG have the right to cancel, terminate or modify this Tournament if it cannotbe completed as planned due to computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, technical failures,or other conditions beyond Sponsor’s and/or its promotional partner(s) control. Sponsor is not responsible forany software or hardware failure, or failure to contact Contestants, whether due to technical or human error. If agame is interrupted intentionally by any Contestant, such Contestant will immediately be disqualified. Sponsor isnot responsible should a Contestant’s computer crashes during any time of play or if a Contestant is unable tocontinue game play (for any reason whatsoever).The Sponsor, MLG, Activision Blizzard and/or their promotional partner(s) and/or agents (“Released Parties”)may film, record and/or take photographs during any Tournament Round, and may use the resulting footage,recordings or photographs for a range of purposes, including, without limitation, for marketing and promotingReleased Parties respective products and services. By participating in the Tournament, each Contestantauthorizes the Released Parties to film, record and/or photograph his or her voice and likeness ("Image"), andalso grants the Released Parties the irrevocable right to use any footage, recordings or photographs of him orher recorded or taken during the Tournament, or any reproduction or modification thereof (collectively, the"Recordings") in any manner and medium throughout the world in perpetuity for advertising, trade, promotion,exhibition or any other lawful purpose, except where prohibited by law. TheTournament is governed by the laws of the State of Texas and all claims must be resolved in courts sitting inTarrant County, Texas.
