Settings

  • All of the Settings and Restrictions are listed below.
  • The hosting Team is responsible for setting up each Game with the correct Map and Settings.  Private Match creators must select the correct Game Mode within eSports Modes.  Starting a Game with the wrong Settings will result in a Forfeit for the Rounds in which the incorrect Settings were used IF the incorrect Settings affected gameplay.  If a Game is played out of order, the hosting Team will Forfeit the Game. (For example, if Uplink Detroit is Game 3, but played as Game 1, the Team that hosted Uplink Detroit will Forfeit that Game.)

Game Play

  1. All Matches will be best of 5 Games.

  2. Players who move their Character outside of the normal boundaries of a Map may Forfeit the Game.  Moving outside of the normal boundaries of a Map includes but is not limited to part of the Character’s body passing through what should be a non-permeable surface or object, and moving into any area from which your Character registers shots on an opponent who is not able to register shots on your Character.

  3. Using any Restricted Item listed above will result in a Forfeit of the Game, or a Forfeit of the Search and Destroy Round(s) in which the Restricted Item was used.

  4. If a Player finds that their Character hasn’t respawned after the proper amount of time they should notify a Tournament Official immediately.  If the Tournament Official is able to confirm that this has occurred, they will determine whether the Round/Game should be restarted, the Game win should be awarded to a Team, or the conditions under which the Round/Game should be resumed.

  5. If a Player finds that they are unable to Aim Down Sights (ADS) properly, they should notify a Tournament Official immediately.  If the Tournament Official is able to confirm that this has occurred, they will determine whether the Round/Game should be restarted, the Game win should be awarded to a Team, or the conditions under which the Round/Game should be resumed.

  6. If a Player finds that their Character isn’t properly arming or disarming the bomb, they should notify a Tournament Official immediately.  If the Tournament Official is able to confirm that this has occurred, they will determine whether or not the affected Round will be restarted and, if it is decided that the Round will be restarted, which Players will compete in the restarted Round.  If it can be determined that a Player was eliminated from the affected Round prior to this occurring or the Tournament Official perceives a Player’s post-glitch elimination to have been inevitable, that Player will not compete in the restarted Round.  Rounds won’t be restarted when this issue occurs if Players fail to notify a Tournament Official immediately.  If a Team claims that this occurred when it did not, they will Forfeit the Game.

  7. If a Player finds that the Uplink Satellite hasn’t reset after 15 seconds of being unreachable, they should notify a Tournament Official immediately.  If the Tournament Official is able to confirm that this occurred, they will determine whether the Round/Game should be restarted, the Game win should be awarded to a Team, or the conditions under which the Round/Game should be resumed.

  8. Unless otherwise mentioned, Players should play through instances of unusual flag or satellite behavior.

  9. We highly recommend that all players appear offline and set their Friends List to Private during the Qualifier.  However, Players are not required to do either of these things.

  10. After a Private Match has been created, only Players on the two Teams and MLG Staff members may be invited/join.  If a Player who is not a registered member of one of the Teams (ineligible player) joins a Game, the Game must be ended.  If a Player is found to have invited an ineligible Player to a Game, they will Forfeit the Game.

  11. If a Player disconnects from a Game during the first 30 seconds or before the first kill, the Game must be restarted.  If a Player disconnects from a Game after the first 30 seconds or after the first kill, the Game must continue and the Player who disconnected may rejoin the Game.  If all Players on a Team disconnect without a Tournament Official’s permission, that Team will Forfeit the Game.

  12. If a Player disconnects from a Search and Destroy Game, the current Round must be completed.  After that Round has been completed, the Game must be ended.  It is the responsibility of the shorthanded Team to end or leave the Game before the start of the next Round.  Rounds that are played while a Team is shorthanded will be counted.  After a Game is ended, the shorthanded Team will be given 5 minutes for their teammate to return before they must start another Round shorthanded.  When the Game resumes, the score will be as it was when the Game was ended and the Teams will be set to resume the Game from proper sides.  For example, if Team A was on offense and leading 1 point to 0 when a Player on Team B lagged out, and Round 2 was won by Team A, the Game would resume with Team A leading 2 points to 0 and Team B on offense for Round 3.

  13. Any form of cheating, glitching, abusing in-game mechanics, or unsportsmanlike behavior may result in a Forfeit of a Game, Match, or Ban from GameBattles.  Punishable unsportsmanlike behavior includes, but is not limited to, excessive use of foul or degrading language.  In addition, breaking any rule may result in a Forfeit of a Round/Game, Forfeit of a Match, or Ban from GameBattles.

  14. MLG reserves the right to broadcast any Match.  If MLG chooses to broadcast a Match, MLG Staff members must be allowed into each Game.  If MLG Staff members are unable to connect to a Host, all other hosting options may be explored until a suitable Host is found.

  15. If a Game ends in a tie, it must be replayed.  When a Game is replayed, the Host is not changed.  Capture the Flag and Uplink Games must get through Overtime before a tie can be declared.

All Matches

  1. No warm-up or practice Games are permitted once the Match’s first Game has begun.

  3. Teams must have at least three Players present in order to start a Game.  A Team will Forfeit the Match if they don’t have at least three Players present by 15 minutes after a Match’s default start time (Grace Period).  Teams that played a previous Game(s) in a Match will forfeit the Match if they don’t have at least three Players present by ten minutes after the conclusion of the previous Game (Grace Period).  Teams with three Players present will be forced to start a Game at the end of a Grace Period.  Bots are not permitted in any Game.  If Teams that are scheduled to play each other both Forfeit a Game or Match, the higher seeded Team will be awarded the Game/Match win.

  4. Teams may delay a Match between Rounds/Games for up to ten minutes.  Teams can request that a Tournament Official enforce this ten minute time limit.  After ten minutes of a Tournament Official enforced delay, if the delaying Team is not present, they will Forfeit the Match.

Host

  1. The Host is the Player who must create the Game’s Private Match and ensure that the proper Settings and Map are used.

  2. All Host Choices must be made prior to the start of a Match.

  3. The higher seeded Team must choose to act as Team A or Team B.  Then the Teams must make Host choices in the following order: A, B, A, B, B.

  4. The Team that doesn’t Host a Game must choose to play as Atlas or Sentinel for that Game.

  5. Hosting Players should create the Private Match.  As the hosting Team changes over the course of a Match, the new hosting Player should leave the Private Match and create a new one.  If, after the start of a Game, Host is transferred to a Player who wasn’t designated to be the Game’s Host, the Game must still be played.

  6. Teams should play a Lag Test Game, for roughly 30 seconds, to determine if a Host is acceptable.  If it is determined that the Host is unacceptable, a new Lag Test Game should be performed with a new Host.  Lag Test Games should be played using a Game Type that the Teams are not schedule to play against each other so that Players aren’t confused about whether the Match has officially begun/resumed.

  7. All players must agree that the Host is reasonable before the start of a Game.  If a reasonable Host cannot be found, Tournament Live Support MUST be used so that a Tournament Official can determine each Team’s best Host.

  8. If a player’s connection to the Host becomes unreasonable during a game, the Game must still be played.  After each Game, either Team may request that a new Host be tested, if the previous Host was unreasonable.

  9. Players competing from outside of this Tournament’s country/region are not permitted to Host any Games.  Violating this rule may result in a Forfeit of all Games hosted by such Players.

Tournament Officals

  1. Tournament Officials can be contacted on Tournament Live Support to answer any questions or solve any problems your Team may have during a Match.  Contact information for Tournament Officials can be found on the Support Tab located within the Tournament.

  2. Only 1 Player per Team should use Live Support for in-game issues and that Player should stay on Live Support until a Tournament Official answers their call.

  3. If a Tournament Official is called into a Private Match, Players must keep the Tournament Official un-muted at all times.

  4. Verbal and/or written abuse of a Tournament Official will not be tolerated.  Violators of this rule may be disqualified from the Tournament.

  5. If you are having technical issues, please contact support@mlg.tv.

Reporting

  1. Both teams must report the Match result within 10 minutes of its completion.  Failure to report the Match results on time may results in a Forfeit.

  2. To report the Match results, Teams must report the Match Score accurately, with overall Games won being reported.  For example, the Match Score can be reported as 3-0, 3-1, or 3-2.  Reporting the individual points for each Game is optional.

  3. At least one member of each Team should take a Screenshot(s) of each Round’s/Game’s results in case proof is needed for a dispute.  Screenshots should contain the Round Score, Players on each Team, and a time stamp.

  4. In order to dispute Game results, Players/Teams must notify a Tournament Official that they would like to Protest the Game before a new Game has begun.  In order to dispute Match results, Players/Teams must notify a Tournament Official that they would like to Protest the Match no longer than 15 minutes after the end of the Match.  If a Tournament Official isn’t immediately available, you must submit a Ticket no longer than 15 minutes after the end of the Match.

  5. Teams may request that they be allowed to concede victory of a Game.  Teams may request that their opponent not receive a Forfeit penalty.

  6. If a Screenshot(s) is needed in order to resolve a dispute, it should be transferred to the user’s computer and uploaded to the user’s GameBattles profile.  Videos may also be uploaded to a website. The URL for the image(s)/video should be attached to the dispute Ticket(s). You must clearly state what the issue is, the time in the video in which the issue occurred, and/or what the Admin should be looking at in the picture. For all cheating claims, the burden of proof is on the accuser.
