Not surprisingly, Halo 3’s debut has been a huge success on the site. With over 1,000 ranked teams on the Clan Ladder and nearly 800 on the Doubles Ladder, the Halo 3 Arena is shaping up to be one of the most successful games GameBattles has ever supported. Today, November 5th, marks the placement of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare onto store shelves across North America. Those of you who were lucky enough to participate in September’s beta testing know the potential competition this title could bring to GameBattles. In anticipation of its release, GB launched the COD 4 Arena prior to the game’s official release. Because of this, 900 clans have already signed up and are ready to wage war once the game is within their grasp.
Guitar Hero III’s newly founded online capabilities are proving to be a perfect fit into GameBattles-style play. Supported on both Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, Guitar Hero III is already seeing a strong community following from both gamers and music lovers alike. In its first week of competition, both arenas have seen hundreds of matches played and show no sign of slowing down.
As Gears of War nears its one-year anniversary here on GameBattles, it still holds the title of the most popular arena on the site. With the top clan, Vicious Intentionz (59-1), currently on a 44-game winning streak, the team may have all but clinched their spot in the Fall Season Playoffs. However, with a cumulative record of 94-13, History in the Making are hot on their heels and have the possibility of capturing the top spot with a few key wins. We’ll see how this one pans out as the season progresses.
