MLG Online Tournament Rule Addition

Posted by SaltyMegaByte, on Apr 22 2014 4:00 AM

Hello Fellow Tournament Players,

Today we have added a new rule in an attempt to assist with the continued clean up of the use of modified console/hacks in Call of Duty tournaments. Effective immediately, the following rule will be enforced:

At any time, staff reserve the right to ask for first person view of any individual's tournament game play and/or console boot up. Failing to provide what is requested in a timely manner or  follow OLT Staff's directions may result in that player's inability to continue to play and/or disqualification of the entire team from this competition.

Any Call of Duty title that has a theater mode, we highly suggest that you have recording/theater mode enabled.
  • In Black Ops 1 and 2, host should have recording/theater enabled during tournament play.
  • In MW3, each player should have the recording featured enabled during tournament play.
  • In MW2 and Ghosts, players should have a phone, digital camera, or capture card recording as much as possible.

We did not want it to come to where you are required to have a recording device with you at all times, but this rule will hopefully allow us to better control cheaters in Call of Duty tournaments. I highly suggest that you have your phone, digital camera, or capture card near you at all times. We will ONLY ask for video if there is enough suspicion of cheating. Staff have the final decision in the matter of requesting game play and/or boot up of a player's console.

If you as the player in question do not follow staff's explicit directions, you will immediately be disqualified from the tournament. Depending on the circumstances, you may cause your team to play man down or removed from the tournament without a refund of credits.

Tips for the Players:
If you suspect someone of hacking:
  • Provide full segments of game play. 5-10 second clips do not give enough insight the what actually happened. If you are able to provide the full round of an SnD match, that will allow staff to make a more informed decision.
  • During down time, go to live support and request a staff member to spectate. Make sure to provide any proof you have of your accusation.
    • I know OLT staff have not been able to spectate as much as you guys like and we will attempt to increase the staff presence in issues like this.
  • Do not attempt to talk to the staff member in your match in between each individual SnD round of a match. You will not receive a response from staff while the match is being played to avoid distractions.
