We are excited to announce that Major League Gaming, in collaboration with Gears of War and The Coalition, will be hosting the Gears eSports MLG North American Open in Columbus, Ohio at the MLG Arena July 30 – 31, 2016. Up to 32 Pro and Amateur teams will compete for a $30,000 prize pool.

Tournament format will be double-elimination Gears of War: Ultimate Edition “Execution” played on the standard Gears eSports settings (e.g. six-map cycle with map/faction picking, character restrictions, etc). 32 Teams will begin in the Double Elimination Bracket. Matches will be a Best of 3, with the Semi-Finals, Winners Bracket Finals, Losers Bracket Finals, and Grand Finals being a Best of 5.

30 teams from North America & Europe will qualify for the tournament by MLG Pro Points awarded per player via GameBattles Team Ladder and 2000 Series Weekly Online Tournaments. Each team must submit their team roster to MLG (leagueops@mlg.tv) prior to 11:59pm ET on June 21st. An additional 2 teams will qualify by placing 1st and 2nd place in the Last Chance Qualifier on June 25th. Team passes will be sold to the 32 qualified teams for $200 USD each. Each team will have 48 hours to purchase their team pass. After the 48-hour period, the next highest ranked team based on MLG Pro Points from submitted team rosters will have the opportunity to buy a team pass, until all 32 team passes have been sold.

Each of the 2000 Series Weekly Online Tournaments will be free to enter and offer a $500 prize pool. Sign up for the first tournament here.
